[Answered] Hey Quick Question
I signed up to these forums to ask a quick question.
I ordered some webspace on Saturday and still haven't had my e-mail regarding Username, password, etc. How long will this take? Cheers Malcolm |

It can take up to 24-48 hours for an account to be processed. Since that time is up now, then I would suggest submitting a ticket to the help desk.
To speed things up, what is your domain name? Also if you do submit a ticket, be sure to post the ticket ID here. Thanks. =) |

Submit a ticket at the help desk (ignore the login, just go through and submit the ticket): https://desk.surpasshosting.com

Cheers for that.
Here's where all the questions come. I have set up my webserver with Surpasshosting(obviously) and I've set up my domain with 1and1.co.uk. Currently i'm redirecting my domain (MySpace.com - Malcolm - 18 - Male - UK - www.myspace.com/24ctu) to my myspace, when I finally would like to upload my actual site, how would I go about it? Would I go into my CP surpasshosting and upload it to the "file transfer" thing? Or what would I do? Then after that, how would I then redirect my domain to this webserver address? I'm sure I could find all the tutorials online but I honestly have no patience to read all the tutorials on how to set up, so much needless stuff they go on about,I'd just like a quick step-by-step guide. If you're willing to help, that'd be much appreciated! Thanks alot, Malcolm p.s. bare with me, I have no experience with the likes of actually making a site online. |

Hello again. Sorry about not including the help desk link in the last posting.
In regards to your questions, I suggest downloading an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program such as SmartFTP - FTP Client. Once you have done that, with the information for your FTP login within your Welcome Email, use that to login. Once logged in, you can easily transfer files from your computer over to your server. As for the domain pointing to your website, all you will have to do is disable the redirect that is pointing to your Myspace page, it should then normally point to your server. If this does not happen by chance, then it is either because you did not setup the nameservers to point to the server here at Surpass, or another reason. If it has to do with changing the nameservers, all you will have to do is copy the ones given to you within your Welcome Email and paste them in your 1and1 account. If it is another reason, then submitting a ticket to the help desk will be good. =) Hope this helps! |

Do I transfer my pages into any area on the server? Or is there a specific folder? Will it automatically detect which ones are my files? (obviously index.html would be my opening document)
Edit that, i've uploaded my website using that FTP software you recommended, how do I get the URL of my index.html file? 1and1.co.uk is asking for: Forward Your Domain Forwarding destination * (e.g. 1&1 Internet Ltd.) Forwarding type * Frame redirect HTTP redirect Last edited by loadmalz; February 26th, 2008 at 12:54 PM. |

you will upload all of your files into the 'public_html' folder.
As for your domain, there is no need to forward it. In your account, try to find a link where it says "edit nameservers" "change nameservers" this is where you will place the new nameservers. I'm not sure how 1and1 works, so you will have to help me out with what you see. |

Files are now in the public_html folder.
Here's a screenshot, is this the one I need? http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../screeny-1.jpg Last edited by loadmalz; February 26th, 2008 at 1:20 PM. |
