Good afternoon, Surpass.

My name is Christopher Flather and I live in a part of the United Kingdom called Wales where people speak a funny language that is spoken nowhere else in the world! All kids are forced to learn at least the basics of this language so they can have a skill that will prove completely useless to them for the rest of their lives.

As well as a passing familiarity with Welsh I am fluent in English. I live mostly in the sleepy village of Haverfordwest where sheep are more predominant than the human population though spend only slightly less time living in Swansea which is a slightly less sleepy village where students outnumber the human population.

I'm ridiculously young (23) but my youth is tempered by the fact that my face scares animals and young children. I can clear a street with nothing more than my smile. I enjoy writing, coding and drinking. The last two together make for interesting games; every time Microsoft changes calling conventions in the API take a shot. Alcoholism was never this much fun before!

You may have also noticed that I am sarcastic. This has been my life story.

Oh yeah; and I have a really sexy fiance. Boo yah.

No military background, I'm afraid. Serving in the armed forces not only requires a certain amount of bravery and commitment to ones country which I do not possess but also requires an amount of stoicism and mental stability that I definitely do not possess. The last thing you need when you're running into what essentially amounts to certain death is to have somebody behind you either freaking out or firing randomly.

Rather I have taken refuge in the place that all people who are ill-equipped to deal with reality end up working. Academia. I'm paid by the Swansea Institute of Higher Education to develop interfaces for the manipulation of medical visualisations of data. Currently I'm assisting with the development of a laser-tissue interaction model which has applications in assisting the treatment of baldness, port-wine stains and some forms of cancer. When people find out that I'm writing programs that effect how they might be treated they get somewhat concerned that I treat programming like a drinking game. To be fair though some of the greatest inventions known to man were created using this Poke and Hope method of programming. Clippy for example. Also I'm a sociopath.

I'm actually English; I've just lived most of my life in Wales - I've always been more comfortable in England though. Mostly because I can pronounce all the place names without needing to gargle with gravel. Welsh is one of the few langauges which rewards a constant flemmy discharge in the back of your throat. This means that whilst I don't know Catherine Zeta Jones I do know Prince Charles (who is very conveniently also the Prince of Wales). We regularly play polo together.

Actually I made that last bit up.

I also feel the need to divulge large amounts of unimportant personal information to random stranges in a public forum. How odd.
