Pass became a reseller and shared server actually for a few weeks, as we prepared our next servers to go online (seperate ones for shared and reseller clients).
Yesterday Pass started having some slow downs and they continued this morning. We have tracked down two accounts on the server that are doing some things they should not be doing, suspended them, and are going to move or cancel them. Thank you all for your patience in this matter.

A not-so great start to a Saturday morning. The hard working drive in Pass has, in lack of better words, conked out. Right now we are installing cPanel on a new drive and will have to transfer all of the accounts to it when that is done. Please standby for updates.

Okay, the server itself is back up now. We are still in the process of restoring accounts from the backups. None of the files on the main hard drive were recoverable. Most of you should see your sites restored to the state they were in yesterday. The current ETA on full restore is about 2-3 hours at this time. Some of you will see your sites up before others as the restore is in progress. Thanks for your continued patience and we will update you once this is completed.

It has come to our attention one of the fellow people on the server www.cdoem.com has been housing copyrighted information from Microsoft. We needed to bring down the server immediately to remove the data and hand it over to Microsoft; this user will be banned from our servers as we do not tolerate copyrighted information on our servers.

We do apologize that this has caused some downtime; once this user is removed we will not see any more issues.

The server will be back up within 15 minutes, the evidence is almost completely removed.

Thank you for your patience.

---------------------------------------

As you may notice it has taken longer then 15min to get the server back up again, I'm trying to find out what is going on. I will notify you all when I get more information. I'm just the messenger.

Okay everyone, first off, I am terribly sorry about all of this. We had some serious problems with the data center. They were explicity told that they had full authority to remove any offending material, and their techs failed to do so. Months ago this was discussed during a similar incident. They had full permission to delete any site or file that was reported to them. We would deal with the client later, who obviously was in wrong doing. Instead, their policy enforcement portion of the company pulled the server and took it offline and was refusing to reboot it. It took us many many phone calls and a lot of wasted time trying to get this straightened out. They appear to have a total lack of communication in their internal operation.

Plans are being made, and we are pulling our servers out of that DC starting this weekend. The servers currently located there are: dime19, dime21, dime23, pico, and sea. More details about the server moves will be posted at the appropriate time and we will be doing mass mailings for servers affected by this move. 98% of the users on these servers are not going to notice any changes during the move. You will not have to make any changes if you do not use custom DNS. We will post that info as soon as we have everything worked out.

Thank you for your continued patience.

I would like to add that they do not even check servers they pull offline. They pulled Pass offline as if it was only housing this illegal site, and not hundreds of live websites. They have no remorse. Before we knew it hours had went by with no progress from these people. Over 30 phone calls were made and we specifically asked them to not run the disk check when the server was brought back online because it would take over an hour to scan over 75 GB of data and by the time they finally went to check Pass to halt it, it was already done with. Worst day I've had in months.

Pass will be undergoing an upgrade on 3/18/04 at approximately 2am in the morning. We are going to upgrade it to Dual 2.4gig Xeons with 2 gigs of RAM. We expect between 1-2 hours of downtime at the most from this upgrade.

5/24/2004

Pass will be going down at midnight EST on 5/25/2004 (in about 1.5 hours) to add an additional hard drive. Downtime is expected to be approximately 15 minutes and may be up to 30-45 mins.

Thanks
