I apologize that you weren't following what I was saying.

What I'm suggesting:

Edit the php code, changing:
mysql_select_db("$dbname") or die( "Unable to select database.");

to:
mysql_select_db("$dbname") or die( mysql_error() );

Then re-run the create.php script and tell us what displays on the screen

Sorry if we upset you in anyway. That was not my intention at all. It's simply to try and explain what was being said and ultimately to help you fix the issue. The code posted by Fern will cause the database to give you a message telling you what is causing the problem when you go to the webpage. Once you get that error message for us it will be alot easier to help you solve the issue.
I hope we aren't just being more confusing.

Seems like it was done as directed. Now looks like the issue is that whatever script you have to access the database is incorrect. If you can post the code for the connection to the database *****without posting security info(eg. password, usernames,etc)**** we can try and see why.
