*slaps forehead* I knew I was going to miss an obvioius detail. Yes, I got the username right. It defaults to admin in the installation, and I verified that as rigorously as I did the pw.

My fault. Not bagging on you.

Ok. So any other thoughts? Maybe I need to make my issue into a new thread in order for it to get attention. This is just a general wiki thread, after all.

No, you don't have to start a new thread. I'm not quite sure what the problem could be. You did just install it correct? Why don't you try deleting it and starting again. If the problem persists, you can submit a ticket to support. Or once again post here.

Actually, this is the second install. I tried once before, a few months ago. Had the same issue, but just dropped it. It's solely for personal use, and not that important. So at the time I didn't think a ticket was worth it. But now I would like to make it work. I'll submit a ticket.

phpwiki is using HTTP-Auth to log you in. According to the php manual page on this (http://us.php.net/features.http-auth):
Quote:
The HTTP Authentication hooks in PHP are only available when it is running as an Apache module and is hence not available in the CGI version.
Here at Surpass, PHP runs as a CGI, so http-auth is not going to be available in PHP.

Unfortunately, Dan, I have no experience with phpwiki -- I first installed TikiWiki because that is directly installable from cPanel, but I ended up not liking that. So I installed MediaWiki as well, which went really smoothly. Works like a champ, now.

I think the last poster who said that PHP runs as a CGI is on to something, though. MediaWiki does require PHP5, and since the default is PHP4, I had to submit a ticket in order to get PHP5 up and running properly. If you're set on using PHPwiki, you might want to carefully review its environmental requirements.

Good luck!

Yeah, the help desk set me straight on that one. I had no idea.
