mysqli function

Can we use mysqli functions on shared servers? I chose php 5 in cpannel and when I try to use a mysqli function is says

Code:

Call to undefined function mysqli_connect()

Thanks for the help in advance!

Out of curiousity, does your server have mysql 4.1 or higher?

Yeah is mysql 5x

I put in a ticket and they recompiled PHP with the mysqli extension for me! What fantastic support!
