Yes I have tried the Gallery support forum too, looks like they're not quite as quick with replies but I'll wait and see if anyone knows anything.
What if I used FTP to just delete the Gallery folder on my server (or would I *have* to use Fantastico?), and uploaded a new installation folder also via FTP, then went through the browser installation routine and told it to use the existing database? Do you happen to know if that would work or am I imagining it to be too simple now? |

Hmm, not too sure. I would test it out, but just make sure to have a backup. As long as you have a backup of everything....you can do anything. =)
and no you don't HAVE to use Fantastico to install it. You can manually do it through FTP. =) |

Thank you so much for being so helpful.
I'll wait a few days and maybe someone comes up with a bright idea, if not then, knowing myself, I'll end up starting to play around with things~ Got nothing to lose at this stage :[ |

Until the info.php file loads without causing an error, I'd leave the gallery alone for the moment. I'd try to get something simple like that working first as that will help in diagnosing the problem.
In my case, my Gallery was initially installed under a PHP5 environment with a MYSQLI database type set in Gallery's config.php file. After the update, PHP5 was not installed and PHP4 does not support MYSQLI.

I would absolutely love to get that file to load but I am absolutely clueless now. I've checked file permissions for info.php and they are set to 777 too. Nothing will load anymore, not even the index files in the /lib or /upgrade subdirectories, the only way I can access anything is via FTP. I am open to all suggestions.

Well... sounds like what's going on is something support needs to look at. Have them get it to where /gallery/info.php will execute and show it's output so we know how PHP is installed and configured.

So this is something I could create a support ticket for? I'd love nothing more than that. There must be a way to fix things, everything's still 'physically' there after all.

Yes it is. It's some combination of file permission settings, possible .htaccess settings, or something. In case it's something specific with the gallery folder, you might even put a copy of the info.php file into the /public_html/ folder also. But, yeah, it's time to have support look at it and get it to where a simple php script will work.
