PHP Literature

Before everyone gets there hairs in a bind, I am not asking for someone to hold my hand with PHP. All I need is a recommendation on what would be the best book to get to start learning. I prefer to learn on my own, and the hard way it seems.

Any help would be appreciated.

sams book are very good (I have one for php)

you may be better of using ebooks to start with as you can download loads from the net.

The source doesn't really matter to me, whether it be in print or digital. I just want something that will help me "evolve" past traditional web design.

ok I will souce a few links for you to download some e-books for you to go through.

they are usualy from 2 to 8 meg in size, I have some on my machine somewhere when I first started off so will try and dig those out for you.

will post pack later with info on where to download.

found 3 on my machine for mysql and php I have uploaded them to my site in a zip file

these are the titles so far

MySQL and PHP Database Applications.pdf

mysql_manual.pdf

PHP_HOW_TO.pdf

and here is the link to them

the file is just under 5 meg

I may have more so will keep looking

I really like O'Reilly....it's a good beginner/intermediate book. Look for it on ebay. Retail is 39.95 but I got mine shipped for 20 bucks.
