Ssh

Hey Unleashed...

I had a similar problem for a quick one-page site i built yesterday. If you're good at teaching yourself stuff, Google can answer all your questions.

I'd never used SSH before a week and a half ago, when we got our dedicated server. I changed the php.ini file last night, first try. Granted, it was a bit scary since the whole time I was thinking I was going to screw something up...

Look at the list of things I did below, Goggle what you don't understand, and learn! It's fun.

Disclaimer: You can screw something up if you do something wrong.

Log into your server using SSH (I use Putty)
Do a query to find the php.ini file on your server by using this command:
Code:
whereis php.ini
(On our server the answer was /usr/lib/php.ini)
Go to the directory that php.ini is in I used the following commands:
Code:
 cd /
 cd /usr/lib/
 pico php.ini
"cd /" that put me in the root directory of the server.
"cd /usr/lib/" put me in the directory with php.ini it it.
"pico php.ini" pico is a Unix text editing program.

Edit the file with pico, and CTRL+X to save & exit. I closed Putty and reopened it, navigated back to the file and opened it back up with pico to make sure the file was, in fact, edited.

I strongly reccomend you do as much reading up on SSH and pico before you try this. I spent about an hour making sure I knew what I was doing. (Even though I really had no idea. ) You can screw things up, but then again...things can always be fixed.

Good luck!

Hey, Unleashed!

I was checking out your strikehosting site and was wondering if you are using WHM AutoPilot for your order processing? How is it working for you? At your level of business, is it worth the money or was it more of a time thing?

Unleashed...

You'll have to restart Apache & MySQL for the settings to take effect. I had to.

Hmm. I am not unleashed. But i use WHMAP too.. At http://www.case-spider.com .. I use a owned license.. I have some paying clients. And i do absolutely believe it is worth it. Makes evrything look more proffesional. Plus it is so nice to keep an eye on orders and billing. Plus it has a helpdesk-system integrated that is good enough for me until i get more clients.. But i do reccomend you to go Owned license.. You save money if you use it for 1 year and more..

Unleashed, sorry dude, I have been swamped lately. Teq did tell me and I put it on my list. I couldn't find your login info for your server, but if you will PM the info, I will get you setup. You know the drill, root pass, IP addy, and what limit you want on the upload sizes.
