filtering letters, numbers and space

if i got a string = "h3l10 my n4m£ i$ s\/rp4$5"

how do i do a loop so it pulls out the letters, numbers and spaces only

so after the loop i want the string to be= "h3l10 my n4m i s rp4 5"

with all the non letters/numbers and spaces gone.

???
