Magic_quotes sometimes not working

It appears magic_quotes is not working sometimes. Anyone else on vega experienced this lately? I submitted a support ticket but maybe someone in here might know what's up. Since magic quotes are on, all string submitted via the get and post methods should automatically be escaped before being sent to the db. However, once in awhile users of my blog submit comments that end up appearing escaped in the db. That means magic quotes aren't working. Anyone know what might be up?

btw - I am not using addslashes() or stripslashes().

Is this a custom blog? And can you put up a phpinfo page so that I can see your php info.
