At the risk of sounding like a spaz, I'm having issues and I'm about to kick this damn laptop out the window.
I run a fair sized phpBB community and am trying to get everything from the CURRENT server onto a server over here. Last time I transferred the community, I restored the database table by table, and ended up manually breaking everything up into sections because of size and timeouts. Needless to say, it took a while and I'm not looking forward to doing it again. I'd be willing to use (read: learn) telnet or ssh, but don't have a clue where to start with that (my backup is already uploaded to a backup directory if that helps...?). I definitely need something faster and/or more efficient because this community is expanding quite swiftly and the thought of having to restore this database for whatever reason again is sending me close to convusions. I guess I'm just asking for any ideas, as I'm not familiar with my options. ANYTHING to keep from having to do it manually through phpMyAdmin again. *shudder* So, let's hear it. Anyone?

If you don't already have Shell access, there is a cost. (http://www.surpasshosting.com/addon.shtml)
Too bad we aren't allowed to connect to the SQL server remotely, otherwise I could recommend a brilliant freeware program, which would upload your sql database within seconds. ![]() |

Even if you did have access to SSH/telnet, you couldn't upload the actual SQL files, because they have SSH jailed tight, and you can't directly access the mySql database directory. At least that's what I think I remember...
Try sending in a support ticket and asking them if they could move the database to the mysql directory for you, then you could just put it in some directory on your website and tell them where to find it at. I believe they would do that for you...
