What do I need to consider to run a gameserver if I go dedicated?
Why isn't it a good idea for Surpass to run gameservers?
So we also can resell them... ![]()

I don't think that surpass's network is 'optimized' for game servers and the open ports that they require. Some host them on their dedicated boxes. This post should be moved to that forum.

I got a question about that to the users who have gameserver running on their dedi's. How much bandwidth does your gameserver eat up a month?

Well, would there be any downside to having a gameserver running on a dedi and also have websites on it too? Would it even be noticed?
I have been asked to work my magic and get a gameserver for a group of people and dedi was the first thing that came to mind. Renting from a gameserver company gives you unlimited bandwidth but if you had your own dedi and didnt go over the bandwidth, then you could do whatever you want with the game server. No limit to the number of players or what game you are playing. Can anybody shed some light on this for me? Tracer

It really depends on the amount of rate you set.
The amount of information that is passed back and forth between the client and the server is called the rate.
