Question New to Dedicated

Hello, I just got my dedicated yesterday! It seems very confusing, there's many things to setup. How do I ftp in my dedicated, I"ve tried the IP and password on the email but it kept on saying incorrect login/password. Also, I was unsure of what this meant:

Quote:
PLEASE REGISTER THE DNS WITH YOUR REGISTRAR PRIOR TO USING THE DNS, REGISTER the ns1 and ns2 WITH THE RESPECTIVE IP'S

please login into the place you register your domain and CREATE your ns1 and ns2 with the ips above then you will be able to change the dns on any domain you add to the server using your custom dns, this will only work after you register the dns.
I have 3 domains on Surpass, 1 registered through SurpassDomains and 2 on godaddy. Does this mean that I just simply change the DNS servers to point to the IPs or hostname of my dedicated? And last,y how do I access my site using the IP, it didn't work when I used it. Thanks for all your help.

I tried using the IPs for the DNS, gave me an error. The email specifically says to

Quote:
REGISTER the ns1 and ns2 WITH THE RESPECTIVE IP'S. Please login into the place you register your domain and CREATE your ns1 and ns2 with the ips above

I'm using the domain from godaddy, I tried the DNS and it worked. Seems like you have to use a domain rather than an IP for the nameservers.

I still can't connect to FTP or Cpanel using the Main IP with the login of root and the password provided in the email. I appreciate any help.

For godaddy:
Log into godaddy, go to domain management, then pick the domain you want to set up. On the right side of the screen you should see some options like nameserver summary and domain host summary.... you want to click on domain host summary. In that section you want to add ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com for the following IP addresses:
ns1 - 66.194.41.160
ns2 - 66.194.152.190

those are surpass's DNS servers. If you have any questions let me know.

for cpanel/WHM, you want to go to the IP address of your server... it would be: http://serverIP/whm with serverIP being the IP of your server which you would have recieved in your welcome email

NO you cant loginto your cpanel account using root. Just do http://ipaddress/cpanel

and just put your username and password in that you usually do with your other accounts. Or did surpass not transfer accounts yet?

to loginto WHM http://ipaddress:2086

username probably root

then just put password

WHM works for me. Surpass didn't transfer any of my accounts on the shared servers yet. I want to make sure everything is setup and working before I point the domains to the dedicated. Oh, maybe that's why I couldn't login to cpanel? But, I could still access my site on the dedicated using the IP, right? I still can't connect to ftp using the main IP and username: root

Lol, There isnt any ftp account to the Main account root. Email surpass and ask them to transfer files. Download a software called putty http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/.../x86/putty.exe

and then you can login as root like that and do ssh commands
