I have had a dedicated server for some months now. And i am very pleased in having it. Sure there has been downtime, but not alot, and the few downtime has become of upgrading php, or installing some rpm. It takes a while to recompile you know.
The rest of the downtime has been some network problems - not a server issue.
Cpanel updates has not been any problem for me yet.

All the time has the support been so great and helpful! They have helped me where my nolidge of linux or apache fails several times.

The best in manage the server "myself" is that DNS issues and else is something that I can solve myself, in 98% of the cases.

I have 3 different server uptime sites watching the server - and sending me SMS if it fails, even though surpass admins is watching and are doing the neccessary work to get the server back online before I can reach a computer if I'm not at my office or home at the time.

So my "advise" is: Go for a dedi! It's great.

My dedi rocks. Server has 100% uptime since i got it. Only the 2 network-issues that made results on Siteuptime.com.

Well worth it!
And i dont mind if you ask for help if you need it.

He doesn't mind at all. I ask him questions about my dedi a couple times a day.

BTW: I would post my uptime but I have only had it for a week and its been up the whole time.
