Question about uptime %?
Hello,
I have a customer that is a little hard to deal with, every day is asking questions about uptime and one day I toll him what i saw on this post I don't quite understand.. why is there at least 1hr of downtime each month?. Emannuel says that our uptime on the SLA is 99% which allows up to 5 hours of downtime in a month. now my customer wants to now how you calculate that 99% uptime allows up to 5 hours of downtime in a month? any ideas? Thank you

you could multiply 31 days by 24 hours, then take 99% of that. by my calculations it would be less more than 5 hours a month because 31x24=744... 99% of 744 is 736.56...
i could be calculating it wrong, but logically, that's how i would do it.

31 days x 24 hours each day = 744 hours
if you multiply 744 hours x .995 (99.5%) = 740 744 total hours possible in a month - 740 hours of total uptime allowed = 4 hours of downtime in a total month is allowed. If it falls below that it will be below 99.5% An error on my part the uptime is 99.5% not 99% .5% makes a lot of difference ![]() |

Hello Emmanuel,
I got your 5 hours calculations, so if I offer a 99% the total will the 7.44 hours of downtime allowed every month. Thank you for your help, my customers is driving me crazy with this matter, but now I can handle. ![]()
