CentOS is Redhat on acid. Its a good OS.

.

John listed a very informative post.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux is for corporate hardware thats not poor quality Intel, but like POWER5 and the other real 64bit chips.

You need to stop providing (linux) information unless you know what your talking about.

Fedora Core dose make for a good work station OS though. I played with it some last Spring (04). They use it where my kid brother works on their workstations.

He told me their server is going to either CentOS or Whitebox Linux in October. Still trying to work things out on that. But either are good from what I'm told. It's a retail chain he works for.

I've dabbled with linux and like it better but am just to hard fixed with Windows to convert. lol But do prefer a Server to have Linux over Windows by far!

My brothers girl friend is a Linux/BSD geek plus and told me CentOS is " waayyy awesome!"

They are basically the same thing, recompiles of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. If they both do what they claim, other than a few icons and a logo, they should be exactly the same. The differences would be how quickly they roll out patches and how well they support what they've distributed.

I have to support too many copies of the real thing to even want to look at one of them for my own use, so I really don't have a real opinion as to the quality of the 2 and how they compare. Seems like CentOS gets more press though.

Failure is not an option. It comes standard with all Microsoft products.

I fail to see how this comment helps the conversation here.

I know exactly what I'm talking about, thanks.

Shouldn't you be off ranting away about Windows (or "Redmond OS" as you call it) and how it's hurting the economy.
