Linux flavours

How different/similar are the various linux versions (cent,os, fedora, redhat etc)?

Are the commands basically the same?

Do the instructions and recommended installs in the - Dedicated Server Administration section - hold good for all versions?

Between the ones you mentioned, they should all be the same, as they are all Red Hat based. If you stray from the Red Hat fold, you will find some differences, but for ones you mentioned, you should be fine.

"Red Hat" became RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Server)

Community screamed, so Red Hat created Fedora, a community project that Red Hat would use to keep the community happy, and use as a test bed for new technologies to be used in RHEL.

CentOS - RHEL source recompiled without Red Hat logos and trademarks.

When you get down to it, all Red Hat.

Failure is not an option. It comes standard with all Microsoft products.
