Usually added security can mean slower performance. However, in this case it really should not be noticeable.

I edited the article and added a small note regarding the older servers,

Quote:
We are introducing a new policy for our shared and reseller servers. This means that starting with SH88 and Pass48 this policy will be enforced. We would like to apply this change to older servers and may in the future, but only *one* server at a time. Making this change can cause many problems with existing installed scripts.

At this time it's just an idea.. there are no solid plans on when we will start applying the change to older servers but it will be a few months from now.

Good plan. The moment a script stops working, all heck breaks loose.

I personally prefer PHPSUEXEC, but to enable it once a server is loaded with users can be quite a mess. I seem to remember many of the servers having it enabled a couple of years ago and then it was dropped because of numerous script problems. One of the biggest issues is using .htaccess for PHP directives. Once PHPSuexec is enabled, the server will return an error if the .htaccess contains a PHP directive. You may want to keep this in mind if you plan to install it on a dedicated server.

So it could be quite a while before the server I'm on is upgraded to PHPsuexec.
How much would it cost to move to a newer server that has PHPsuexec installed?
