mail server issues

i am really losing the confidence in being able to maintain a dedicated server.

last week i ran a paid ad for a couple of positions i needed filled for my company and was a bit disappointed i didnt get any emails. i receive a call last night from someone and they told me they tried sending me a resume but it kept getting returned. i do a test and sure enough the email didnt work. i check in the cpanel for that domain and the email acct which i have used in the past was set as default as it always has been with the name only.

i send in to support.

the reply is that because it was just my name ie chris and not chrismydomain.com it wasnt working.

it worked before?

Now tonight i got an email from a customer asking if i got his email earlier this week which i did . i go to reply to him and i see the return email is

yesmydesignatedservername.mydomainname.com

i dont even think he uses an account with the webhosting i provide from him. all previous email has been from his isp.

i have a ticket on hold for the last month that none of support could fix to return me getting my email from cron about my server activity. Support says the cron is working fine but i dont get my email.

Anyways, i do believe i was told i would get a number to call if i had any problems. I seriously think i do have a problem here but support is only responsive to issues i discover. I have lost all confidence in me being able to manage a dedicated server effectively. This has nothing to do with surpass's maanagement of servers. BUT... i would appreciate to call someone or they call me one time only to try and power close me on retaining my dedicated server. i only have 22 accounts on it so it isnt a profit thing for me... but i do feel i had better reassurance when i had my reseller acct.

Please.. there is no need to add posts suggesting i contact support via helpdesk. i tried that silly aim messenger thing on my last preformatted harddrive and found that to be a waste of time with nooone online and a program i detested having on my computer.

Support can only be responsive to issues you discover. They can't very well do anything about undiscovered issues.

If you need the number to call, put in a ticket for it. I myself don't know what it is either, but I've never needed it.

Well what would you like me to tell you? Support is where you get help from for technical server issues, and where you can get their number from. You asked for the number, I told you were to get the number from. I don't even have the aim contact myself. I mean, I can't just make the number show up if even I don't know it, and it's not going to be posted on the forum for obvious reasons. Your best source for it is the help desk.

perhaps rather than being concerned with your post count you should be more concerned with the capacity to which you can offer help or if not dont bother. i stated in my firstpost that a suggestion to write support was unneccessary. if i have 258 posts on thsi board.. that is 258 of your posts suggesting the same thing. i stated in my initial post i had in fact done that.

I came to this board as it is supposed to be a discusion board on issues and that is to discuss them. unfortuneately that very seldom happens. So if all that is offered is your same suggestion there might as well be a redirect. Volume Does not equate Effectiveness. And quite frankly .. what is the sense of even posting this board when all it does is set off my outlook of new email from guess who? "david" suggesting what? go to help desk. Now congratulations on most posts.

If i do end up taking your advice to email support again for the 258th time ... it will be to change the type of account i have.

You appear to be the only one concerned with my post count. This forum is for user to use support. You also stated that you wanted to talk to someone on the phone about it. I told you where to get the number from.

This particular part of the forum is seldom given any other responses because this type of area isn't as widely covered knowledge-wise. We have several members who know a lot about dedicated servers, but we have even more who know about coding, graphics, and other problems that people may face. If none of them are online and able to give you any technical advice, what else would you like us to tell you? I'm trying to help you by directing you to the source of information but you don't seem to want to go there. The ticket you said you have put in, has nothing to do with the phone number from what you said.

Kayla, feel free to reset my post count to 0 if you want. It's no concern of mine.
