I am confident in my abilities. Like mentioned in the past, I crashed my Fedora Core home machine by simply resetting it.

Well Skip, I am definitely confident that you would do very well with a VPS.

I've wondered how easy it is to move from reseller to VPS. I'm somewhat confident of my skills of general administration and security, but all this webstuff has many times been a bunch of gibberish when it comes to administration. That's my worry.

tch3: I moved from a reseller to VPS without any problems what so ever. Webstuff is the same - and the admin is light - in fact you don't have to do any given that it's managed just like any other plan at Surpass.

But you will love the control you have. I remember having to file two tickets in a row on my reseller because a couple of installs I did put the directory ownership to nobody and I had to get it changed - now I just log in and change it myself. Want to try a different webmail package - no problem - just install it. Gotta love it!

This is sounding better and better every day. With the post here I think I almost have convinced myself to make a budget exception for now and just shove it in. lol

I just feel like with the small web foot print I have that it will be like moving from a studio apartment into a mansion. hehehe

That in and of itself is almost worth it. Need to compare the VPS vs Dedicated.

What's the definition of "managed"?
