Email Help

Hi All!

I am having some issues recently and I hope someone can help narrow this down!!

On my phpbb forum, some people choose to be notified when a reply is made to their post. An email is sent from phpbb to let them know. The problem is some people get the emails while others do not. I was helping to troubleshoot one of my members issues. We tried 2 of his emails and he was not notified. On a third email address he was notified. I also set him up an email with my domain and he received the email. This leads me to believe that possibly my ip is blocked from his server as spam account or for some reason the server is not sending to his email accounts.

I also have some software (not phpbb) that I have been using that when someone signs up, an email is sent to the admin and a confirmation email is sent to the end user. This was working fine up until a weeks ago or so. No changes on my end btw. Anyway I get the email as the admin, but the end users were not getting the confirmation email. I ran some tests using some other email addresses I have and I did not get notified either. That software also has the ability to setup an smtp account which I did and has resolved the issue for the time being.

So obviously there is some kind of email issue going on here. Anyone have any ideas???

Thanks for the help everyone!

This would possibly have something to do in terms of IP banning. What is the email provider that the recipients cannt recieve your mail? Are they all the same provider that is having the issue?

I doubt this is your dedicated server's issue, since some can recieve mail showing the mail sector is working.

I am just perplexed because this has been fine for almost 2 years. What about the problem of me testing this and using two different emails (one user/one admin) with the same domain and only receiving the admin email?

Just ran some more tests......

I changed my forum email address to a different one outside of my domain nameswbell.net. I did not receive any notification of new messages on that email address. If I use namegmail.com address, I do get notified.

What would cause this?
