Looking to Buy
Hello All,
Im looking for information on dedicated servers. My site is continously growing, I started out on the smallest shared plan available and im now on Extreme about to have to move to Max. What im thinking about though is dedicated servers? I believe i will eventually have to move their, but they scare me. Is it true that you have to know a lot about servers and the commands and everything? That it is not all done through some sort of control panel but actual commands having to be issued. Im hazy on the field of dedicated servers, could someone please inform me on what it takes to run one succesfully?

NO, dedicated servers are extremely easy to use... you can setup a cpanel for yourself and practically never have to use whm again.
You only have to know about commands and everything if you plan on using everything but 99.99% of the time you'll never have to touch it. and the %00.01 percent of the time that you may need to support will do it for you.

yes just as the VPS the Dedi are managed servers too. If you don't feel comfortable doing something or not sure Surpass can do it for you and most things at not charge at all.

You should learn how to use WHM though. You need to know how to keep your server updated, and you should also get familiar with the command line (if you've ever used DOS on Windows, than it should be a similar feel). This way you'll be able to install things like APF and BFD to keep people from messing with your stuff.
