Rebranding My Hosting Company - Changing Domains
Hello everyone,
Well I'll be dealing with support about this nearer to the time, but I just wanted some information upfront. Basically, I'll be changing the domain of my hosting company, therefore changing the domain of my dedicated server. My server is currently installed at server.currentdomain.com, I'd like to change this to server.newdomain.com, is this possible? My main domain for my server will also be changing. Also, I'd like to change my nameservers so that they use newdomain.com, is there anyway I can do this without affecting the old customers? Basically, so that the old customers use the old nameservers, and the new customers the new nameservers. I'm looking for the easiest way to change domain names, whilst causing the least hassle to my hosting customers as possible. Looking for advice ![]() Thanks, Gareth.

well
For the hostname i believe its just a matter of going into cpanel and under networking>hostname and choosing a new one? i did it about a week ago and havent had a problem, but i honestly cant remember right now if thats all I did. I think i went to DECC and changed the RDNS as well. As for the name servers, the only way to keep it would to keep your current name servers pointed to where they are. Your customers must change their name servers... so while you could change the IP's of the name servers without customer interaction... there is no way to make their dns records say ns1.newdomain instead of ns1.olddomain without it. |
