Thumbs down Dissatisfied Customer.

Surpass shut my site down because it was using "59%" cpu sources, and I had no scripts running, I even asked for a raw log to be sent and they wouldn't send me one, saying it was my responsibility to "investigate" the cause yet I couldn't access the cpanel if I was suspended. They kept forcing me to buy a dedicated and I felt pressured into doing so, considering I ran a huge site and have been a "loyal" customer towards surpass for more than a couple of years now, I took the offer. I have a couple of sites that receive over 4k unique a day, and being as I took the offer on the dedicated, I have yet waited almost three days and have NOT received a support ticket answer back for help on how to get my server set up. I have purchased this dedicated and being down for almost a week is very important as I am losing my dedicated customers/fans. I really am a dissatisfied customer after being forced into a dedicated that I am not understanding ONE BIT on how to set it up considering I run about 5 domains.

I've had all of my information transferred from the reseller to the dedicated. I managed the dns settings through a main domain which I expected to turn into a hosting company, and now the sites are not updating through the sites and I cannot point each domain to a specific directory since it was transferred, because it gives me a currently exists error. Not only that but due to the transfer, there are options showing I have domains added, but under "LIST ACCOUNTS" I do not have an "Unpark" or "Delete" option to re-set it up which is causing a no go on the domain. The technical support has turned horrid, the way I see it, Surpass is enjoying their money.

well everything that you mentioned in your paragraphs could be solved if you RTFM. There is a detailed help manual built right into the WHM sidebar. Look for it, you no longer have a reseller or shared account so domains don't have to point to a subdirectory anymore.

Your site got canned because of shear volume, it happend to me and I went dedicated. I am not extremely knowledgeable about WHM myself but I RTFM and haven't had any issues.

Not sure what to say here. I have a VPS and they have allready tried pushing me into getting a dedi. ( At this point I can not afford it yet) Not with a baby on the way.

I know why they are doing this but I won't say anything since I plan on doing this myself real soon to sell dedis.

But down time is a hard thing for anybody. Wish you the best of luck and I hope everything works out and your views can change on surpass.

Getting into 'hosting' without a clue as to what you're doing is dangerous. That's why places like livejournal and myspace, geocities, etc. exist.

Surpass supports / manages things for you, but you have to know what to tell them / ask them. And it's all a learning curve.

They're not pushing you toward a dedi just to make money - they're suggesting it to ensure you have more uptime / control of your systems!

A quick update since the client didn't respond again. He ended up getting a dedicated server after his understanding of the situation. We offered him a generous discount and even copied his accounts.

I hope this is now a happy ending for you

I have not been on the forum for a while but how can anyone complain about being asked to rent a dedi if they are using over HALF of a servers resources - seems fair to me! Surpass could hahve lost many customers had they allowed this one site to bring down a server or make it unstable.

I am a SATISFIED customer! I am learning too but surpass are wonderful - so if anyone is reading this and is thinking of coming to surpass please be assured they are good people who will go out of their way to help you.
