Well hopefully that VPS person can get things resolved. Florida time should be in by now.

I'll look in on this later. Time to get ready for Church here.

The only thing I really have to say is that it doesn't matter if you have 1 or 2GB of burst. The problem they claimed is your consistently over your level of RAM. For all we know you're average RAM usage is 610 MB and you're bursting upwards of the 1GB range or higher. To me that is abuse, even if unintentional.

It doesnt matter??? then WTF am i paying for???

Are you tech support then you really dont know do you? I dont even know what my average ram use is all they said is I was using 1GB constantly which is bullsh*t Eman said I can burst to 1GB which is totally false, I pay for VPS 2 which states I can burst to 2GB so what is the problem?

If it tuens out I was actually using this amount of ram all the time I will hold up my hands and say sorry, but this is the first time my VPS has been suspended so it coulnt have been using that much ram all the time.

Surpass..get you finger out and get this sorted.

If this is just a ploy to get me to upgrade to a dedicated then go find someone who is more gullible cause I aint falling for it.

Calm down. First, it does matter what you pay for, but it's almost a negligable point in this case. They're claim is your were consistently over your paid amount, which is not bursting. Second, your rant here isn't being constructive to your situation. Rant all you want, but it won't get the information you're requesting any faster, nor is it even likely a Surpass employee will even read it in the next little bit (this is a user-to-user forum, not a support forum).

I can only assume they do have your ticket based off the responses you've posted. I can only suggest you wait.

Thanks I will rant all i want i enjoy ranting.

I thought a VPS was supposed to run exactly like a dedicated server? it says so on the VPS page, so why would my site using more memory effect other VPS's on the server?(the reason I was suspended i guess) surely my site would just be not accessible? If someone on a dedicated server ends up using more ram does there server get suspended?

No where in the resource abuse policy does it say anything about VPS all it mentions is shared.

I can only assume the following:

1. Surpass are lying or have made a mistake in order to get me to upgrade to dedicated(NOTE: surpass have made a big mistake before, once i couldnt access my site after several convos with the 3rd level support they told me it was a problem with my ISP.. low and behold though after much nagging some senior guy steps in a tells me it was actually due to the log files becoming full or something and it was making apche go screwy..support incompetent??)

2.The VPS on surpass is not set up correctly..notice all the other posts in this forum about VPS performance and mystery resource use, etc

//end rant

If in management it may take a little time but they will dig into it deeper.

But hay I can relate to the frustration. And nothing wrong with a good rant. Surpass has not seem me do a Skippy rant yet. They have seen a minor rant but no Skippy rant. hehehe

I'm just real curious as to what is causing your burst. I see occasional spikes with server load and CPU use and can not see anything I have going that would cause it. And Surpass could not find the issue or cause when I dropped a ticket twice on it.

So why is your issue flagging so big? Weird!

And yes it is suppose to act like a dedicated not affecting the neighbors on the servers. If it is, something is wrong.

I was just reading through the resource abuse thing and although it mentions nothing about VPS it basically looks like once your site is suspended for resource abuse you only really have 2 options move to a dedicated server or dont host with surpass, this is assuming there is no other factors.

There is no dispute procedure is there? so you have to take the word of the surpass admins, even if this resource abuse is a one of event there really is nothing else except move to a dedicated is there?

I want to go back to the traffic of my website again as I am trying to think what could possibley have caused such a surge in memory use.

Now as i have already stated I run a Michael Jackson fansite(the entertainer - thriller, bad ,etc) my average traffic(unique visitors) is at most 500 perday, now think back to june 13th last year when Michael Jackson was acquited of all charges in his child molestation case, my website, which was hosted on a mediocre shared plan at the time recieved well over 1000 unique visitors that day and i think the next to because everyone was searching for Michael Jackson that day, did i ever get suspended then? no, did support contact me tot ell me my site had used alot of resources that day? no, so why all of a sudden am i using 1GB of memory when my traffic hasnt really changed since being on VPS?

Do you think surpass would allow me to hire an independent expert to investigate my VPS to see what is happening? I doubt that it may uncover things surpass dont want uncovered.

I await a reply from the management, get my VPS back up.
