Okay I was told that when you are on VPS when one site has trouble or goes down you won't have to worry about it affecting your site because VPS doesn't work like Shared Servers.
My issue is for the past few weeks my VPS has been going down almost everyday for at least an hour each time, I email support and get the reply after a few hours that "Your site is resolving on our end" but of course it had been after the site came back up after it had been down an hour or so.. it's actually telling me "Page cannot be found as I type this" Well I was talking with a friend of mine who went VPS the same time I did and is also on VPS 1 just like I am and found out his site has been going down at the exact same time as mine. Why is this? I went ahead and put in a ticket for some space upgrade but I don't want to have to continue with such horrible down times, I mean when you're paying $65.00 a month for service and your members are donating their money to help the site they and you expect it to be up whenever you go to it. It's just getting a bit frustrating. ![]() |

Have you noticed what time of the day this is happening?
Have you looked at resource usage at the time such as CPU, server load and all that and have you looked in TOP to see if something server side like mailman or YUM is hogging resources? I have had some like issues for awhile with VPS-5. Some of the resource use I can blame on YUM, the linux updater tool, and mailman. But have also had a mystery resource hog that is worse than those 2 together hog the VPS and it dose not show up in TOP. I've had tickets to support and 3 of which I believe have gone to level 3. Nothing found by time they get around to checking it. There have been a few others with issues too. Yes Surpass VPS is new but shoot this many months later seems they would have tracked down the bugs and fixed them by now. I recently updated Apache, MySQL and PHP to see if that helps. And I was told updating CentOS would cause allot of downtime so did not have them update that. But the other 3 were easy from WHM for me. So far all is well but waiting. YUM did not seem to hit as hard the past few nights and mailman has not acted up yet for me to see how that dose.

So far I can get to my pages when this happens but my forums go to a crawl and some members say they freeze up.
My CPU will spike out at 100% and sever load for mailman and YUM are in the red with 4 to 8 in server load. That other unknown hog has shot server load over 15 a few times now. Maybe if enough of us bark to support about it in time they will take a much closer look at the issue. Something is not right with VPS. ![]()

Right now it says:
System Capacity 96.96% CPU 31.0% I ordered a space upgrade last night and that hasn't been answered yet and also replied to a ticket because they stated something was wrong with mysql setting and that was causing the issues and they fixed it but that hasn't helped either.. ![]() |

Join the club. I have found they are not fast with anything VPS.
Most of my tickets on shared were resolved in under 21 minutes. Since being on VPS only one ticket in the last 4 months was handled in under a hour. Makes me afraid to ask how much slower it gets with a Dedi.
