Urgent help needed mysql.sock error

i'm getting this error message everytime i try to start mysql.

all of a sudden was getting emails stating that mysql had failed, attempting to restart.. but it never does..

i can't seem to open a ticket as i can't remember the email address & password for the my.surpass surport.. (i know the email, but unfortunately Dan who was owner of the company has moved to australia and isn't in touch with us at the moment. so i can't open a ticket from there.

the server is server.sundissential.com

the error message is

/usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)' Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' exists! mysql has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "Warning, no valid mysql.sock file found.mysql has failed").

i've tried forcing an update of mysql by using mysqlup --force but same problem..

i have all the root passwords and login info etc.. just the my.surpass login info i can't remember.. if anybody can sort this.. kayla?

as current:
eximstats is failed, mysql is failed.

rebooting failed to help, and neither did a CP backup..

If you don't have it up by now submit a ticket to support and have them do it so you don't have to much down time. Hopefully they can fix you up quickly.

i can't submit a ticket to support as i can't login to the support desk as i can't remember the password and Dan who's email address is the registered address has moved to australia and is out of touch at moment, so i can't do a password reset either as he won't receive his emails for a while..

You don't have to log in you just open a new ticket on the help desk page

looks like they've sorted it.. the sites back up, and whm says mysql is working

at least i can now goto sleep without worrying about being woken up in 2hrs time by the boss phoning me to see what's up.. LaughLaughLaugh

Yes I fixed it but normally we can't without a ticket being filed, since you mentioned your server hostname I logged in and fixed it for you.

Please try to open a ticket in the future for faster help as we don't have admins monitoring forums 24x7
