funny how the hostdime admins found a bad board in the server, have replaced it and the site has been fine since. It wasn't my site it was the hardware

Hello I have looked at the error and system logs of your server and found the following in your logs:

hda: dma_timer_expiry: dma status == 0x21
hda: DMA timeout error
hda: dma timeout error: status=0x50 { DriveReady SeekComplete }

ide: failed opcode was: unknown
hda: status timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }

ide: failed opcode was: unknown
hda: no DRQ after issuing WRITE
ide0: reset: success
loop: loaded (max 8 devices)

This means that most likely your mainboard is going bad, and we would like to replace it with a new one.

1 hour later

Hi your server has now been switched to new hardware. The server is not having the same problems, the error messages that appeared earlier are no longer there in the logs, which is a very good thing.

. Also we will keep the server on our work bench for the next 24 hours for observation

but why was it happeneing on every other setup you had aswell? do you still have some of the extras switched off? if thats the case im glad its sorted for, just sounded typical software fault after happening accross different setups

I actually I was here last night working with Kevin on your server. I heard you voice your concerns and frustrations and I only wanted to get this resolved for you as fast as possible.
It was not a hardware issue this whole time. What happened was after they upgraded your server from the celeron to the P4 they used the incorrect motherboard which was showing errors. So in the midst of shared-vps-celeron it was not related to hardware. Either way I am monitoring the server still right now and I hope it is fully resolved for you now.

thank you and i must admit the site is running great now and has been even with quite a few people on. whatever was done it is fine now. Thank you. Sorry for the frustrations and issues but you must understand I have been quite upset over this whole situation.

I appreciate you talking to us and giving us the opportunity to get this resolved. I will follow up with you tonight and call you just to make sure everything is still running Ok. We will have to move the server back to its "home" (data center floor, from the ER room) sometime tonight
