Made the Switch Ready to Bail

I finally had to move my blog to a dedicated server since I was abusing the resources of a shared server. I understand that and have no problem with it. Here is the problem. First I moved to VPS1. 6 people on my one single wordpress blog would crash the server. Moved to VPS2. Same thing except I got a few more users before the server crashed. Moved to VPS3 and of course the same thing. So off to dedicated we go thinking hell I can get the 1.7 celeron with 1GB of Ram and have no problems. Everything worked great till I would get 15 people online. Then again the server crashed. Yet another upgrade was ordered and done yesterday moving my CPU from a 1.7 celeron to a P4 2.4 and I was assured everything would be running smoothly. Guess what? It isn't so far in the past 4 hours I have had to submit 2 reboot requests since I couldn't even manually reboot the server. Guess what Surpass I have had enough. I am jumping ship at 6pm on Wednesday unless something is resolved. I have a support ticket in the works, lets see what happens.

if you can connect. Chances are it will be down

Post your ticket here, in case anybody from Surpass sees this thread.

Have you looked into why it is causing the server to crash? What kind of addons are you using? There has got to be a reason why so few people is causing it to crash.

I can currently connect to the site ok at the moment

I have attempted to narrow down the problem on my end and I can't figure it out. I have disabled most plugins long before and that didn't help. I am also using all available caching plugins for wordpress. They have helped some but still the server continues to crash.

Even with the famous phone number that dedicated customers get I am still having issues. Yes the staff has been helpful, polite and sincere but still the problem remains. My site is up and down.

I thought your sites were on dedicated already, since the issues that happened last year.

I am checking into the tickets.

I can see your site fine and it loads quickly right now - only thing keeping it from completely loading is "spa.snap.com" which is just sitting there, for about 2 minutes now in the status bar.

after idol last season i went back to shared from a VPS. It was all cleared through someone. I didn't have a problem with abusing resources again till a couple of weeks ago. I was never suspended or even emailed. I just knew I had crashed the server once and decided on my own to upgrade. It just hasn't been a smooth transition by any means.

See now that loads just fine for me. I will try disabling it to see if it helps. people love the preview feature but keeping the server up is most important. I doubt it will help but i am up for trying anything at this point

There are quite a few external scripts loading from third party sites. In case you aren't seeing this:

It's probably not causing any issue, but it's not a natural thing.

I've witnessed more people complain about Snap, myself. Hmm!
Personally I like to mouse over links and see where it's taking me (is it taking me to a domain name, or a single page, just basically like to see the actual URL path), than have a square pop up and cover other parts of text. It's interesting how preferences vary so much.

Article http://performancing.com/node/5721 but you've probably read this!
