Space Used on Hardrive - It's Not Right

Hello all,

Basically, I've spoken to support about this before...a solution has not really been found so I'm not going to bother them again about this issue. However, I know something is certainly not right. I'm looking for suggestions, or help in this topic.

Right now, my hardrive usage is at a worrying 93% (of 80GB). This happened sporadically overnight, one night it was at 59% - the next at 92%.

I checked how much the accounts were using on the server, and that only totals 22GB. Bearing in mind 59GB is apparently being used, what is using 37GB? Nothing? Backups are sent to a secondary hard drive for anyone wondering, but if any staff member would like to help me out...I'd really appreciate it.

As it is, 37GB is being used up by...(nothing?)...and is currently forcing me into a hard drive upgrade. I hope this is Surpass evily getting more money out of me :P

Thanks in advance,
Gareth

Are you familiar with SSH? Log in as root using PuTTY or another SSH client, and:
Code:
cd /home
du -h --max-depth=2|grep G
That'll tell you what's eating up the most space. If you can't find anything there, try:
Code:
/scripts/fixquotas
. . .although that rarely fixes quote issues for me.

It seems 33GB is being used needlessly,

Quote:
33G ./virtfs
Is that required?
