Tune up dedi for vBulletin?

Is there anyway I can tune up my dedi server ?

I only run a 250 online users board... but the server load gets really really high after 200 users.

Somtimes it reaches 20.0-25.0 server load.

I'm not very good with mySQL stuff, should I try to do it myself or should I ask for tech support help? Any suggestions?

If you submit a ticket someone in support will definitely be able to make some tweaks to MySQL for you. What kind of hardware are you running on the server? You may have to make some hardware upgrades, too, so that it runs more stable.

We have an entry level Celeron with 1GB RAM.

We're thinking about upgrading to Dual Xeon 2.8 with 1GB.

I will open a suppor ticket then, thanks!

What site is it? Please share with us -- must be good if it's got that many visitors.

Very nice... almost 700k posts. After looking at your configuration, upgrading to a faster CPU would definitely help. I'd recommend the AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core servers with 2GB RAM:

I believe that'd work perfectly for this site for quite a while.

Do you think Dual Core AMD-Intel should be fine?

Or should I upgrade all the way to Dual Xeon 2.8?

I host a forum that has about 65-80 people viewing it at any given point, and another that has a steady stream of visitors as well. This is on my Pentium D 2.8 box, and this load doesn't even put a dent into it. I think you'll do perfectly with a dual core Pentium or AMD box with 2GB RAM.

ive got dual core opteron on one server and dual xeon on two others and personally the AMD seems better for general web hosting but the new woodcrest xeons seem better for php intensive scripts, however for that many users you should be completely fine with either. good luck
