Where should "/backup" be?
I have a single HDD server! Where would i create this directoy, is it ok to type "cd /" and then do it, or what would be the best location? New to this so you'll see me aound often for a while ![]() Thanks in advance |

If you set up backups for /backup on a single HDD server, the backups will simply go on your primary drive; you won't even need to create the directory. This is OK if you just want to restore old data if you manage to delete something, but if the drive fails, you're out of luck since your backups are on the only drive.
I highly recommend getting a second drive installed. You can't go wrong with the extra peace of mind...

Hmm, I stand corrected. It used to just create it for you if it didn't exist before. Go ahead and log in as root, and create the directory via SSH... should be fine that way. Sorry about the confusion.
