Presale questions?

Wow, I'm already less than impressed - I have to depend on a user forum to get presale question answered?

Okay, since I had to create a an account before I could ask a presale question, in a user-to-user forum filled with unhappy customers, I guess I'll go ahead and ask.

1. Are there any options besides the single drive dedicated server?
2. Do dedicated servers come with cpanel or whm or both installed?
3. How long does it take to get one set up?

You don't have to go here for presale questions. If you like, you can submit a ticket at the help desk (no need to log in, just submit the ticket). And this forum isn't filled with unhappy customers, it's filled with all kinds of customers, very few are unhappy. You could have also posted in the Questions before signing up forum, which doesn't require registration.

1. You will see servers with single and dual drives. I'm sure you can even get more drives if you need. There are many options.

2. cPanel / WHM is an extra monthly cost ($30)

3. I think it's a day or two on the setup. They build the server and get it going for you. Hasn't taken that long from my experience.

1. There are dual drive dedicated servers which are highly recommended.
2. If you choose the cpanel license it comes with whm and cpanel.

3. Can take up to 24 hours.
4. http://desk.surpasshosting.com/ Feel free to submit a ticket there.. It says Sales, but we answer pre-sales questions too..

There is also a "Questions before signing up" section in these forums that you can post in without having an account.. feel free to post there too

You'll find that we are different type of company with a unique approach to web hosting. We focus a lot on our forum so that our customers are always connected to each other. If we get a few complaints in here a day when we have almost 300 shared servers - I think it's a pretty good balance.

dedi-interest should try calling the phone number listed in WHOIS for surpasshosting.com: +1.3863839832

It sounds like someone's personal voice-mail!

I tried calling, because the support (post-sale, once they have your money!) is very disappointing!

If you look at what he wrote, you should also check out all of the other testimonials. Most people don't have problems with the servers or support. There is phone support for dedicated servers (that is not the number). There is no phone support for shared servers.

DewKnight, of course there are a lot of great testimonials, otherwise Surpass Hosting would not be in business. There is praise alongside my complaints; I have stayed as a customer since 2003. However, I want the standards & level of service to be kept high!

If most people don't have problems with the servers or support, how come there are some who still do? I remember being a reseller on shared servers, which had problems there regularly ;-) You get what you pay for, right? Surpass Hosting has some of the cheapest hosting, while still offering quality hardware & bandwidth. "Most" of the techs do great work, thoroughly reading ticket histories and being considerate of my detailed requests.

I still get really pissed off when I read "We reply to Technical Support tickets normally within 15 minutes." on http://www.surpasshosting.com/support.php, because Surpass support has been considerably slower this spring/summer. Y'all are hanging out on the beach and partying at nightclubs or something!

I have not seen a phone number for dedicated servers support, but am very interested to know it.

The number for dedi. support has been posted on the forum in the past. Open a ticket with your dedi. server details and I'm sure someone will respond with the number.

I did what snide suggested. From my personal experience, the dedi. support phone service has been excellent. I have called it twice for emergency/urgent issues.
