Connecting via SSH

I've been wanting to log in to my server via SSH because of suspicious activity i figured I'd check out the logs.
But i've never been able to log in.. I don't know if Surpass uses a different port (22?) or I have to download the RSA key..
I see a guide on SSH and security on top, but it skips the actual "how do you connect" part.

Anyways I bet someone can help me out..

PS. using Putty

IP Address + Port 22 should work fine.

Make sure you use:

username: root
password: root_pw

If you're not able to log into your dedi via ssh with that information please submit a ticket because something aint right!

If you're trying to ssh to your shared reseller you need to request access from the sales team in our support desk.

Hmm.. I'm on a shared server with SSH access and I'm connecting via my domain name and a completely different port than 22. Maybe shared servers use different ports than others. Just using what Surpass told me to connect with.

Yes, shared servers are set up to a different port. Dedicated servers are set to the default port or whatever port that is requested.

I can SSH in just fine to your server on port 22. I used our key and not the password, but it still works fine on my end.

from command line
Quote:
ssh -l <username> <servername_or_ip_address>
From Putty, just fill in the server name or ip address in the box and click go or connect. It defaults to port 22
