how do i install php-mbstring?

I can't install php-mbstring...

[rootabc1 /]# yum install php-mbstring
Setting up Install Process
Setting up repositories
Reading repository metadata in from local files
Excluding Packages in global exclude list
Finished
Parsing package install arguments
No Match for argument: php-mbstring
Nothing to do

I'm a total newb at this... anyone give me some hints?

Thanks

Hi,

To install php-mbstring is easy, but potentially can break your system if you select a wrong option somewhere. Compiling apache can take 30 minutes or more and http access will be down during that time.
If you don't have any live accounts then you might want to try it yourself - it will give you confidence to fix a live server that breaks! Alternatively, support can do it for you.
I am going to assume that you have CPanel installed on your server.
What you need to do is to recompile apache (and php) using your Root WHM Panel. Navigate to Main >> Software >> Apache Update
Select the "load previous config" button to load the last set of options. That bit is really important!
Next scroll down and find "mbstring" under the php modules section and select it. It might be an idea to select other modules you might need to save having to do it later.
Next, review the options that are selected just to sanity check it. If you're happy with the options, hit the "Start Build" button. Then sit back and watch cpanel do it's stuff. Just don't close the browser!

Hope this helps,
Jonathan
