Moving from Shared to Dedicated

My database has currently been disabled, and I received an email telling me that my site, http://www.perfect-ending.com, was cause a server overload and that either I have to optimize my database or move it to a dedicated server. I just need some information about dedicated servers, how they work, and what kind I should purchase. I use my site to run a vBulletin board, which is always growing.

I disabled the database in question a few hours ago, because it was driving up the load averages on the server.

A few questions before I recommend a server... How many users do you have on the forum? How many posts? How many monthly unique visitors? Knowing this will help us figure out exactly what you need as far as the server goes.

We have around 400 members on the board and a little over 50,000 posts. Those numbers may be just a little off since I can't check the exact ones right now, but they should be pretty close. I am not sure what you mean about unique visitors though, so I don't know the number for that.

The help desk is not working, so I can't see if my question has been answered. If anyone could answer me here.

I need information on this package. http://www.surpasshosting.com/conten...ingle/sp12.php

If we were to order the SP12, the $130/month pricing without a set up fee, how much would we have to pay for our first fee or payment? And does the cPanel not come with the package? If not, how much more is the cPanel?

I already answered this in the ticket, but it looks like the ticketing system is indeed down for maintenance right now.

Here's my response:
"The first month's payment will be prorated, as all invoices come in at the first of the month. The invoice will be created immediately, and the datacenter team will start building the server as soon as it is paid."

Okay, and what about the cPanel? Is that going to be an extra fee per month, on top of the $130/month, or is that included in the 130?

cPanel is an extra $30/month. This is the licensing cost that cPanel charges us, so we have to pass it along to you as an additional fee.

You really don't have to have cPanel/WHM with any dedicated server, could use one of these instead and that are free, that if you can handle something that isn't cPanel.

Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any modern web browser, you can setup user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and much more.
