First VPS

I'm new to VPS. Got it yesterday and am trying to figure out how to set up my site.

I can access WHM but cannot use my root account for cPanel. (my.ip:2082)

Do I need to create a cPanel account first?

Felix.

Got it. I created an account and now I can access the cPanel with that login and pass.

Now another question, can I access the public_html dir of that account with the server's IP address?

For example, my.ip.x.x/~username

There's a setting for this in WHM if it's not enabled by default to allow using the IP. I can't recall how to get to it exactly because I dont have root access to a server from. If no one answers you tonight I will let you know tomorrow morning when I get to the office

Congrats on your VPS btw.
You cannot login to cPanel with root username, but you can login to any cPanel account on the server with the accounts username and your servers root password.

In cPanel 11
WHM
->Security
->Security Center
->Apache mod_userdir Tweak

The mod_userdir tweak enables/disables the ability to view sites on your server by typing http://servers.host.name/~username.

Check here too

Thanks Mike and Dan.

I was missing the last slash so I couldn't get to my test file, only with the full URL, now it's working.

Time to work.
Felix.
