well i ordered the server. bought and paid for. it should arrive at your door next week sometime. ill be biting my nails until then. i think im going to be singing bob and doug mckenzies cooloocoocoo over the next week as i guess thats the next step i have taken!please dont announce datacentre plans next.. this reseller plan sure keeps growing..lol

well after some delay and being in the dark for a week i hear my little baby arrived today?!!!
i have never seen such website malfunction that has caused me so much anxiety before. im canadian , but i order through the american site of tiger direct as it was a bit cheaper and a strong canadian dollar . Seems when doing such a thing, i as a canadian couldnt get access to a shipping tracking number.They never entered Canada in the fields. i was beginning to think nobody at surpass was believing i went ahead with the colo..lol. I was just about to post in the "what are you listening to" thread
3 hours a night for the last 3 nights of christmas muzac streaming from tigerdirects hotline when i gave their online chat a try. Anyways , i was told my server arrived today! im going to go update my sales ticket now .. and wait to hear the confirmation!

could anyone tell me if they actually saw my server? i updated the sales ticket 24 hours ago stating i believed it arrived but no answer yet. Im not in a panic but for a guy that spends 3 hours in Walmart with a dozen socks in my cart reinforcing my purchase decision before i forge ahead , not doing the touchy feely thing buying a tangible item -especially a computer related item-has broken every spending habit/discipline i ever had and im on edge!lol

Just an FYI...but geeks.com has a 1u server for a really good price. Looks pretty robust too. $349 gets you a dual xeon with 2GB registered RAM.

i had meant to post about my colo and some of the things i ran into but noticed this post. once my machine arrived, it was discovered there were no raid drivers for Centos 5 so ended up having to buy a raid controller card and then also added another 250 gig back up drive for the initial raid config. I also have to commend surpass for help with this. i decided to buy the card from surpass so i would have peace of mind that the appropriate drivers were available with it and checking prices, it was within pennies of my searches for prices for the same product.

So, just a heads up, check with the boards manufacturer for driver compatibility with the OS wanted.
