Yeah we began to notice a few speed bumps with centos5 and some hardware we use. Glad to hear everything is smooth sailing now.
Our jobs/hobbies wouldn't be fun and so rewarding if things were perfect from the get-go every single time.

Thank you for all the help and assistance. im happier having the upgrade anyways. i kinda smacked my head about not looking into drivers but it just has been eons since that has been an issue with windows based computers.Setting up drivers for a 4x cd rom for windows 95 is ancient history(luckily) if there was one regret i did have is i should have added more ram when i ordered the server because it is so (expletive) cheap these days.I learned a lot in the last month especially with whm .

Im happy . My customers are happy.Im glad i took the next step

Thanks again

I'm afraid everything happens in cycles. As you say windows has been painless for me since the windows 95 -> windows NT back in 1996 when drivers were a major issue for me. Now however, I'm hitting that again with Vista 64-bit... I'd love to move my windows workstations to 64-bit so I could use insane amounts of memory, but alas 64-bit drivers are not available yet for some of the hardware I absolutely need to support.

(also just faced a bit of a surprise going from rhel3 to rhel5/centos5 as I discovered dell's drac3 and drac4 cards are extremely poorly supported under the version5 to the point one doesn't accept text input any more and the other drops offline randomly whereas they worked perfectly under 3 )

So back to the cat and mouse game it seems in 2008. Hopefully after this we'll have a nother period of calm where software and hardware drivers work easily again.
