some questions about going coloco

i have been needing to upgrade my server and after going over the costs am sort of swinging on going coloco.

Now i do have some dedi receivables coming in in the next week or so and am hoping to be online for about jan 1 if i proceed.

one question is whether this server would be ok/sufficient as a dedi in surpass.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...0107&CatId=330

Also second question is the upload.. for colo it is 2u... with my dedi is it now at 5u? im concerned about bottlenecking.

lastly.. i will make a decision to proceed by weeks end.. is it possible to deal with just one person in getting this to fruition. i am not implying phone but really think it sort of needs a one on one familiarity going through the sales dept

TIA

That server should be just fine. Once it's shipped over, the NOC staff can install an operating system and cPanel on it for you, and then get the machine online just as if it were a regular dedicated server.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this though:

Can you rephrase the question?

Yeah, your current server has 4.5mbps of bandwidth included with your fee. Your average last month was 0.26mbps so you should definitely be fine with 2mbps.

The server you linked to would be fine for colo. you may want to purchase rails from us as the ones that tigerdirect may not fit our colo cabinets.

Feel free to submit a ticket with the sales department if you are interested in receiving a call back with more information of if you feel more comfortable dealing with someone from our dedicated or noc team directly.

well i am definately going to do this. it may be today or in the next few days.. i wish i had a crystal ball about CDN exchange but i guess ill take my chances. So should i open a sales ticket to get the information regarding shipping and so a particular server falls from the sky and you have no idea what it is about?

Mike, i guess if rails are needed i would be billed? i am planning on paying my existing dedi for the month of december.i guess accounting wil figure that out. Also there was mention of a riser card... would that be needed to be bought as well? im not sure how much the rails would be.

i guess im engaged to you guys/people/ladies now... were going to be married soon..lol

We'll let you know if we need to bill you for colo rails and we'll let you know if a riser is needed or anything else at all.
If you need anything at all feel free to send me a PM or put your ticket id in this thread.
