'Restoring server' - data loss??
Hi all,
Our dedicated died this morning; apparantly there was a hardware failure on one of the hard drives. We've been told that they're 'restoring the server' but can't find out exacly what this means - restoring from what? A recent backup? We need to figure out what data will be present when it comes back so we can deal with our clients or look at migrating sites to another dedicated server perhaps. Thanks for any help or info! Cheers, Ben |

Did you have a backup drive installed on your server? They may put in a fresh harddrive with cpanel and all that then restore the info off the backup drive.
I'm not exactly sure how our restores work, but this is the exact reason why its SUPER important to have a backup drive on any dedicated server you have

There have been a number of different issues with the restore that happened, most seem due to the fact that the backup was quite old and we've lost a bunch of server/account settings.
Despite numerous attempts in related tickets to find out the date of the backup which was used in the restore, we still can't get a response. Can anyone point us in the direction of any information related to backups & what is whos responsibility? Cheers |

Can you post a ticket number here so that one of us can have a look?
