this is a nice post Kayla !
well .. i choose to manage my own server because i tried BlueHost ! i think this will explain a lot ! lol ![]() yeah they wanted to kick me from there server in a "polite" way so they closed my site many many times for very very silly reasons ! really u gonna laugh if u heard some of those reasons ![]() so i just wanted my own server .. i knew that my site doesn't need a dedicated server but i wanted to relief and not to bother myself to argue with the support staff why do u close my site and plz open it asap and wait for many many hours to know why my site was closed and wait till they be generous enough to open it again for me etc .. so i just wanted my own server .. the most amazing thing when i get my server here .. the load NEVER EVER exceeds 1.00 !! (Actually it's always get around 0.20 and for one time i see it reach 0.99 during backup some files !) it's just a Pantium 4 not 8 Xenon CPUs like BlueHost ! i think even if i get celeron my site will work perfect .. anyway this is my reason and sry if u didn't understand anything because my english is very bad ![]() thx Kayla ![]() |

ok so ive gone from ageocities account to one website to two websites to 4 websites to Surpass for a reseller account then jumped on a dedi sale some time ago before going colo at christmas.
At first i thought the reseller was great because it did afford me a lot of flexibility with accounts and the potential for added income. i didnt sell a lot of webspace but enough to pay for the hosting plus. I did run into some bad neighbour issues on the reseller and there were a some headaches in appeasing my customers. When the dedi sale came along, i looked at it and figured if i was serious about selling hosting and providing my customers a good product then the dedi was the best way to go. The money taken in from those customers has always gone back to them and i feel more justified in the service im providing. i think that most of those that do have customers realize the competition with webspace accounts out there are getting astronomical with prices dropping . However as a small Webhost most of us give a more personal touch to warrant our customer loyalty. I would say and im assuming here that the median for a webhosting account sold by resellers would be$100. if that is the case then if anyone with 10 customers or more should not even second guess themselves about going dedi during a sale. The client base covers the cost of the dedi and it gives The Host a more stable environment with the potential for greater flexibility of webspace/bandwith for those existing and future customers. Too often i have seen (feigned or Real) when a reseller server goes down how all is lost with client bases and everyone dropping them. If there was in fact a serious commitment to the customers, a dedi would be the way to go

I think I killed it already... ... I got a majority of everything working fine except for e-mail... It would send messages, but not receive any... So then I tried configuring it, and rebooted it, and it won't come back :'( |
