this Juniper NetScreen 5GT Firewall thingie

i see we have this new option of a hardware firewall as posted in the new colo prices and im a bit curious about it. it is hardware configured and it is a $100 a month? do we get complete access to its manager or is that part of the totally managed by surpass scenario? also i cant seem to find an actual cost for these so does that mean to be plugged into such we are sharing with other servers? please explain the positives and negatives for such an expense for such an option.

Honestly, it really isn't worth it for a server that doesn't get a whole lot of traffic. If I'm remembering correctly, your sites are relatively small and friendly ones -- this solution is usually necessary for clients whose sites have a tendency to get into beef with script kiddies, etc.

For some reason I just don't think you're one of those clients, dad. You're too nice!

Yes this is a Juniper hardware firewall which would go infront of your server sort of speaking. You get a full web access and it is managed by us. It isn't shared it is a dedicated firewall to your server or colo.

As far justifying the expense, as removed said it isn't really needed for small sites however if you like peace of mind and are security paranoid, this is a great addon.
