The index file in the folder defined as DocumentRoot in your httpd.conf file, usually,

DocumentRoot /usr/local/apache/htdocs/

I don't think you can turn it off as such, but you can edit the actual HTML file that apache loads when the server is accessed via its servername.domain.com address.

The file is located here:

/usr/local/apache/htdocs/index.html

This file sometimes gets overwritten during cpanel/system updates so keep an eye on it!

Using a FTP client that allows SSH, just login as 'root'.

There is also an extension for Firefox that I think does it.. FireFTP.

I can't seem to get to the apache/htdocs directory through ftp. I got in, but can't find the dir.
