Dedicated Server Addons//Reseller Accounts
Ok, I have two questions. Since they aren't that big a deal, I'll post them here so others might get some benefit from the answers:
Question 1: When you order a dedicated server, you have the option to order more ips (10 ip blocks for 9$ a month, not bad :P). But now that I already have my dedicated server, when I need those extra ips, do I email support to get them? I know ips aren't listed as addons on the dedi server page, but if you offer them when you order, surely you can get them later? I MIGHT need them in the future. I've currently got 4 resellers on my server and another on the way. Only one uses custom dns, but the newest one and the one coming might want them. Question 2: I was wondering how I could make a reseller account where the resellers main site was hosted for free (with a certain alloted space and bandwidth) and then have the reseller space and bandwidth together? Currently, I've been making a base package (that would have the resellers main sites space and bandwidth) then adding the reseller privileges to it and selecting the options of "Limit Account to Resources" or whatever, and specifying the amount of the reseller plan PLUS the amounts from the base plan. This seems to work, but I want to fix it like it gets done when you order a plan via the whmautopilot. I had it, but I decided I wasn't getting enough business for it to be really worth it, so yeah. Just wondering :P. PS: If you read this, Kayla, I love what you guys did with the board! I think vb rocks, don't you?! It is definately worth the price. |

Thanks, vB is definitely the most interesting board in my opinion.. and the most fun to learn about.
Q1: Just email sales[at]surpasshosting.com with how many IPs you want, they will calculate the price and send a payment link to you (specify if you want to pay with PayPal or credit/debit) Q2: "Currently, I've been making a base package (that would have the resellers main sites space and bandwidth) then adding the reseller privileges to it and selecting the options of "Limit Account to Resources" or whatever" Yes, that is how you do it. In WHM AP, when someone orders a reseller account, they are ordering the "base package" and you specify in the WHM AP options the preferences for their "reseller package"... If you don't have WHM AP, I am not sure how you could automatically set up a reseller package... really I haven't looked at any other programs. ![]() |

Thanks! So I could prolly just get as many as I need? or should I buy like 10 or something? I'm just making sure before I get asked about them before I have them, lol. I'll see what the current resellers think, as that would change things a bit.
As for the whmautopilot, I liked it a lot, just that I'm not really trying to have a company, and I was checking my domains refferers and one of them was a bulletin board that had a thread stating they didn't think my layout was really professional and that I thought because I had whmautopilot that people would be lining up. I just wanted to sell space to help with the cost of the server. Not really keen on a thousand and one accounts on it anyway. I mean, my sites are on it too. Thanks Kayla! I have vb, and I tell you, the hacks they come up with for it! |

I set up a domain with reseller privileges, but he just emailed me saying that it wouldn't let him create accounts in his whm. It gives this error (i've tried making one myself): Quote:

That error usually means they don't have permissions for the package. IE: they are trying to create an account with the "default" package that they don't have access to. Try getting them to set up a package of their own and then assigning the new account that before creation.

Hurm, no edit button.....
Anyway, I fixed it! In his packages, he had put an "n" for Parked Domains. I changed it to 0 and it all worked :P. |
