A Few questions about Hosting

What is the difference between colocation and didedicated servers?

Sorry but im kind of a n00b at this thing so i dont no...

Also im wondering what is the difference between these:

Intel Celeron 1.7Ghz 400Mhz Bus
Memory: 512MB DDR System Memory
Storage: 80GB 7200RPM IDE Hard Disk
Transfer: 2,000GB per month
IP Addresses: 5 :: Scripta
$99.00 Setup Fee $90.00 Monthly

Intel Celeron 1.7Ghz 400Mhz Bus - No Setup
Memory: 512MB DDR System Memory

I can see the price difference but what does it mean no setup? As in the server wont be setup and you have to do it yourself or it means no set up fee?!!!

NO, it means you don't prepay a setup fee. Because of this your monthly is higher. Kind of like buying a car. Lower payments if you put a down payment...

Co location is where you build a server yourself and have it hosted in the facility at Surpass.

Dedicated is where they build a server and host your stuff on it.

Co-Lo = you own it

Dedi=you rent it.

I'm still planning on moving to a dedi sometime soon, so this info was good to have. However, colo is not for me as I'm sure if I built it, somehow surpass would have more downtime than a submarine.

Surpass' collocation prices are awesome. If you can invest the large amount of money it costs to build a server, the collocation deal will more than make up for it over the years.

What you mean by building a server? I actually have to buy stuff like ethernet card, hdd, memory etc?
