cPanel

I noticed how the dedicated server packages have cPanel as an additional $35/mo. Is cPanel necessary? Is there any free software that can be used in place of cPanel?

Does anybody currently use this software on their dedicated server?

Thanks.

Does cPanel either? It seems to me that cPanel just uses phpMyAdmin :-)

As far as I can tell, cpanel has a nice little menu to make it easier to create databases and users and modify access permissions, so you don't really have to get into phpmyadmin unless you really need to.

it did about 6 months ago when i tried it

I would recommend CPanel only if your going to try to sell hosting

I personaly prefer just editing all the configs and stuff, at my house I have 2 servers where i just edit the configs here and there and dont use control panels. its really not that hard and it saves $35 a month or $420 a year 8-O

Any questions just email me at unleashed[at]unleashedgamers.com
