moving from "Max" shared hosting..
dear all,
I was previously using "Max", today I just get my "dedicated server" set up by Surpass. I have a few questions, but I don't know if the support is working at this hour. hope any gurus on the site will be able to help me. 1. If I need to transfer all my web contents from my "Max" account, do I need to go to the "Account functions" and click on "Create a New Account" even all I want to host is one website only? 2. how to FTP to my dedicated server root directory? I've used the provided "WHM username and password", but it's not working at all. From the e-mail I got from Surpass regarding my dedicated server setup, that's the only info I got regarding username and password and in the e-mail it saids I can FTP to my "Main IP" for my account and any account I created. any suggestions? thanks in advance for any hlep. I know I should contact the support, but it's not the office hour and I try my luck here. best regards Cataline |

thanks for your suggestion. as I said, I post it here is "I'm not sure if anyone is working in this hour 2:56am". And I need it done before office hour starts tomorrow morning. anyway I try to send the ticket to support now. Hey. You need to use the transfer account with account password option.
You enter the IP of the server with the Max hosting plan. Enter the login-name of the account and enter the password. Then it will probably take a good while to transfer it. So be patient. ![]() If you need any more help just contact me via one of my IM's. Happy to help a new dedi-surpasser. ![]()

thanks Ehaanaes,
I'm using the "transfer account" now. The only problem is my previous attempt did not transfer all file contents. Some folder is smaller in size then in the "max" plan. Now I'm trying the whhole process again. hope I get alll the contents transfered. thanks again for all the help ![]() |

Oh yeah, reminded me. You need to at least have the space available on the account as you have used as it makes the backup to a file. I have had problems with that before.
So if you can tell me how much space you have used and how much you have free it would help. Edit: And if you get any error-messages. Copy/Paste them here so i can take a look.

In my "Max": Disk usage 2105.16 Megabytes in my "dedicated" after transer: Disk usage 1118.34 Megabytes so I believe my problem is not the same as your problem as I got much more space available in my dedicated then my previous "Max". And there is no error-messages. so it's event more strange. but I'm trying the 2nd attempt now. thanks again |

Do you store your email on the server? it might not have copied over... It also might not have copied all the "awstats" logs and such....
