moving from aplus.net...

hello Surmunity gurus,

wondering if any one will give some advice how to use the "Transfer" function in the Dedicated server "webHost manager" to copy an account from 'Aplus.net"'s unix hosting plan?

what should I type in?

I tried different options like:
Copy an account from another server::Copy an account from another server with account password::Copy multiple accounts from another server::Copy multiple accounts from an Alab*nza server

all of them give me an "aborting extraction" message as following:
Attempting to login as xxx to (ip number) via ftp
Login ok
Uploading Htaccess
Uploading Wrapper
Uploading Dectector
Uploading Packager
Uploading Downloader
Uploading Killer
chmoding scripts
Unable to get uid of remote account...(trace information follows)...

I don't know what's wrong, I have the "aplus.net" password right, just not sure if it's possible to transfer from Aplus.net, of course I assume the Aplus.net technical support will not like to help me with this questions.

Hope any of you have the experience succesfully transfered an account from Aplus.net will give me some directions.

many thanks in advance.

best regards

Cat

If you send the IP, username and password of the aplus account, and the IP username and password of your Surpass account to support[at]surpasshosting.com, we can try to do it for you and see if it returns a different message.

(Yes you should use :Copy an account from another server with account password)

thanks Teq for your quick reply.

I tried: copy an account from another server with account password,

but there is this line under the option:
The Remote Server must be cPanel3 or later.

the problem is I'm not sure if Aplus.net hosting is using cPanel3 or others. there is Control Panel of the aplus.net hosting accounts, but I thought it's developed by it's own, no?

I'm desperately want to move my site to Surpass, but before I give out the IPs, usernames, I want to be sure what I wanner do is possible.

thanks again in advance.

best

I just get some info from their support, they told me the control panel is developed and designe by themselves, does that means I cannot use the transfer function?

besides downloading everything from the site and upload everthing again to the Surpass dedicated server, any other ways? like any easy to use scripts can be installed to the other side and initiate the transfer from the other side?

thanks again

Cataline, I am sorry but there is not any type of script that can do that. Because they use their own control panel, this is a big problem. The options are very slim. You really aren't able to use any of our advice Transferring to Surpass? Questions about moving files and backups?

The only option unfortunately would be to upload everything again. We would love to have you here, I wish there was more that I could do.

cataline -

Does Aplus have an option to backup to a remote FTP? If so you could try that, and backup to the surpass server using your cpanel ID and password as the FTP account name and password. This will put the stuff right in your ROOT directory. Then perhaps surpass support could extract the stuff to the right place for you.
